There are two manufacturers in Owen Sound that are losing business.
St Clair Technologies has sent out a layoff notice at it’s Owen Sound plant.
Bayshore Broadcasting News has confirmed at least 20 employees have been laid off — with some of the production being moved to Mexico.
A company spokesperson says the layoffs are due to current market conditions – the high Canadian dollar, and the rising costs of raw materials.
The layoff comes as Hobart announces close to 30 workers at its plant in Owen Sound are also being laid off.
We have confirmed the layoff notice with a call to an employee at Hobart.
The plant in Owen Sound employs around 200 people.
It is primarily a warewashing and waste equipment manufacturing facility.
