If you don’t need to go anywhere on Wednesday — don’t.
That’s the message for the Ontario Provincial Police, as we prepare to meet a winter storm.
Constable Debbie Hodgins says the road conditions will be poor, and it’s important to keep some items on hand in case you get stuck.
Hodgins says to keep warm clothing, food, liquids, and a shovel in the car for emergency situations.
And she says to make sure you keep your fluids in your car, especially your fuel, topped up.
She says if you get stuck in the snow, you’ll need to keep your tailpipe clear as you’ll be running your car on and off to keep warm.
Hodgins also has a warning for any roads that may get closed due to the storm.
She says do not disobey barricades, because if you get stuck, police and road crews will not be patrolling the route and you could be stuck for a while.
Not only that — Hodgins says you will face a fine.
Hodgins is also asking that 9-1-1 lines be kept clear for emergencies, and do not call to find out which roads are closed and what conditions are like.
