Brockton is being asked to set 150 thousand dollars in seed money aside for the possible construction of a new multi use municipal complex.
The Ad Hoc Committee Charged with the task of determining how Brockton should upgrade its municipal facilities made the request to Council.
Spokesperson Mary Jane Bushell calls the money a good start.
She says Brockton needs to be proactive noting that to do nothing would end up costing the municipality a lot more money down the road.
Brockton is currently undergoing a Municipal Needs Study which is investigating the possibility of creating a multi use municipal complex that would house the municipal office, the daycare, Chamber and Recreation Facilities all under one roof.
Bushell calls the study timely noting that some of Brocktons municipal buildings such as the municipal office and daycare are in dire need of upgrades.
She says Brockton has outgrown its temporary municipal office located in the Canada Post Building, and the local day care located in the old three story armories building is in need of constant upgrades.
Mayor David Inglis agrees and calls the 150 thousand dollar request good planning.
The 150 thousand dollar request has been deferred to budget deliberations.
The results of the Municipal Needs Study will be released sometime following Brocktons Recreation Master Plan study that will come out this April.
