Health concerns for those living near wind turbines, were front and centre at Arran Elderslie Council.
Keith Stelling of the Friends of Arran Lake presented council with details of what some scientists are saying about low frequency noise.
He told a packed council session, that at a symposium last Fall, Doctor Alec Salt called it “insane” the province is allowing giant turbines just 550 metres from peoples’ homes.
Stelling says Doctor Salt, a professor at Washington University in St. Louis, called for a setback of at least 1.5 kms.
Other doctors outlined at the symposium how low frequency noise can lead to a lack of sleep, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
The MOH of Ontario, Doctor Arlene King has dismissed much of the evidence saying there is no proof turbines harm the health of people living nearby.
Keith Stelling tells Bayshore broadcasting news she was relying on industry sponsored research, designed to support wind power, and says she will soon regret her comments.
He praises Arran Elderslie Council for calling for a moratorium on wind turbine development, and encourages people to pressure Queens park to accept the moratorium.
