It could be good news for taxpayers in South Bruce Peninsula.
Mayor John Close says budget discussions are underway and so far things are going very nicely.
Close says they’re trying really hard to hold the line on the municipal budget.
As it stands right now, there could be a zero per cent increase in the tax rate, when they factor in a what Close calls a bit of a surplus on the books.
He says if taxpayers find their assessment hasn’t changed and everything being equal from last year, at this point, the tax rate will remain the same.
Councillors are hearing presentations again Wednesday and in the weeks ahead the pencils will be out to see where savings or cuts can be made.
