Owen Sound City council is firm on their position about the future of the Coliseum.
Councillor Jim McManaman says there’s money in the budget to demolish it.
However, McManaman says council would entertain plans from user groups looking to use the Coliseum.
But he says the question will be if those user groups can make a business case because the City won’t be subsidizing the Coliseum.
McManaman also wants to clarify the future of the ice pad at the Coliseum.
He says when the ice pads are ready to go at the new Regional Recreation Centre, the Coliseum ice pad will be decommissioned.
Meantime, McManaman says they will be asking the public and user groups for input into the master plan for Victoria Park.
He says there’s a high number of groups that have serious interest in continuing to use the park, so council will have to meet with them and the public to come up with a plan.
McManaman add’s the Coliseum will be part of that discussion.
