Recycling is good but if you don’t know what you’re doing, it can be a mess.
Saugeen District Secondary School rep at the Bluewater Board of Education, Nicola Bruce fears we’re headed in that direction.
At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Bluewater Board, Bruce called on trustees to set up a consistent program in every school and have representatives from the Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling speak not only to administration but to student assemblies as well.
Bruce says the idea is to clarify what can and cannot be recycled, particularly since there have been recent changes and more recyclables have been added.
She says each school has its own idea of what can be recycled and not all garbage is being re-directed with the public school system.
She says some schools are recycling glass but others are not.
Milk cartons seem to be a hit and miss since no one knows for sure if they’re recyclable.
