he Walkerton Capitals will host a ” House of Orange ” on Saturday night when they host the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks in WOAA Senior Hockey.
Proceeds from the game and various activities at the game will be directed to support Jasmine Rutledge, a 10-year-old Walkerton resident who was diagnosed with childhood leukemia in July.
Capitals President Charlie Cleland says the fundraising initiative is part of the Capitals effort to put back into a very supportive community
Jasmine Rutledge will be the guest of honour at the game of the season against the Winterhawks and all fans attending are encouraged to wear Orange in some way or form.
Orange is the colour that represents the battle against leukemia,
The game is significant for the Capitals who are trying desperately to make the playoffs, but Cleland says the battle that Jasmine is engaged in puts hockey into perspective.
Game time Saturday night is 6:30 PM at the Walkerton Community Arena.
Admission to the Capitals-Winterhawks game is by donation to the Rutledge family.
