The 32nd annual Sauble Beach Winterfest gets underway tonight (FRI).
Winterfest Chair Cynthia Koehler-Logan says this event shows that Sauble Beach isn’t just a place to visit in the summer.
She says people come from all over, as it is the lead up to the Wiarton Willie Festival.
Friday’s activities kick off at 7 PM with the Sno-Riders Torch Light Parade under the Welcome to Sauble Beach sign.
After that, the Town of South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department will hold the annual Christmas Tree burning, where free hot chocolate will be served.
There will also be a youth dance tonight at the Sauble Beach Community Center.
On Saturday — there are a couple of big events.
First is the Diesel Dan Memorial Road Hockey tournament — a tribute to a well-known community volunteer who passed away six years ago.
Dan Kirkland is remembered as Mr. Sauble Beach, who would ride his bike everywhere, and always keep the community clean, as well as raise money for several different events and charities.
That tournament kicks off at 10AM tomorrow.
Last year’s inaugural Sno Golf event will continue this year at the ball diamonds from 1 PM to 3 PM.
And the annual Sno-Riders Dance tomorrow night is already sold out. The Geoff Stevens band will be performing.
There are many indoor and outdoor events for all ages throughout the weekend, including Saturday’s pancake breakfast, Youth Games, Euchre tournament and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
