The Medical Officer of Health for Grey Bruce has presented a report regarding wind turbines.
The report it self is essentially a road map on where the Board of Health can go with regard to wind turbine studies.
In her report, Doctor Hazel Lynn outlines a number of issues connected to wind turbines — everything from the potential health affects to the economic divide the wind farms can cause.
Doctor Lynn says a healthy community does not increase the poverty gap – adding she is concerned only wealthy land owners will benefit financially from wind farm projects.
Doctor Lynn says just like the studies conducted on smoking in the 20th century, studies on wind turbines could go on for decades before any conclusions are made.
Following presentation of the report at the monthly Board of Health meeting, the Grey Bruce Health Unit decided it will forward a resolution to the Province to look into all of the concerns surrounding wind turbines.
That resolution will be taken to the Ministry of the Environment as well as the Ministry of Energy.
