Staff in Saugeen Shores are working on a fee structure for businesses who want to project signs from their buildings.
Councillor Luke Charbonneau says they need a new system since in some cases — the fees would double the cost of a basic sign for business people.
One report called for a 750 dollar charge for permission to put up a sign, plus 50 dollars for the permit fee and another 50 for an annual inspection.
Charbonneau says a lot of the signs are just simple shingles that are being put out by business owners.
He says the purpose of the signs was to allow businesses to advertise their services in the downtown areas — but the fees are just not feasible.
