The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton is getting a boost from Enbridge to create a more kid-friendly environment.
Enbridge has pledged five thousand dollars in each of the next three years to create the Enbridge Kids’ Korner.
Education and Outreach Co-ordinator Stephanie Riggs says it’s going to be a welcoming environment for kids.
She says all of the kids programming and school visits will be run out of that room.
Riggs says it’s always been a goal to have a dedicated space for kids at the museum, to encourage more visits and get kids involved in local history.
To make it a kid-friendly environment, there will be kids furniture and games.
There is also a mural of Bruce County on the wall so kids can identify where they are, and where their homes or cottages are located.
Riggs says the mural is being painted by Emily Langridge, a co-op student from Saugeen District Secondary.
She hopes to have some kids come tour the space in a couple of weeks when everything is set up to get some feedback and more ideas.
