Brockton is the latest municipality to join an inter municipal wind turbine working group created by Arran Elderslie.
The mandate of the group is to put pressure on the province to provide municipalities with more control over wind farm developments.
Mayor Dave Inglis says the Green Energy Act removed a lot of power from municipalities from a planning stance.
However this group believes there is still some power left under the Municipal Act.
Inglis says a number of residents within Brockton have been approached by wind farm developers, including a councillor.
He says Brockton needs to be proactive and informed with all the up-to-date information about this issue.
Inglis adds keeping the lines of communication open in the spirit of cooperation is very important between Brockton and wind farm proponents.
He says a positive relationship may provide Brockton with more influence to sway issues such as setback distances.
Meantime Brockton is also working with Bruce County to develop wind farm protocols.
The Inter Municipal Wind Turbine Working Group includes Saugeen Shores, Georgian Bluffs, Chatsworth, Grey Highlands and Huron Kinloss.
