The man behind the Cobble Beach golf course and housing development will be remembered Wednesday.
Willis McLeese died last week at Meaford hospital at the age of 97.
A memorial service is being held at 11 AM today at Timothy Eaton Memorial church in Toronto.
There is no funeral service.
In the Owen Sound area, McLeese was best known for taking nearly 600 acres of land overlooking Georgian Bay and creating Cobble Beach.
McLeese was 83 when he bought the property in 1997 .
The Doug Carrick designed golf course and Nantucket style clubhouse have been recognized with several awards.
Although the Cobble Beach development has moved slower than William McLeese had hoped, his son Robert says he was thrilled with the project.
McLeese also donated thousands, if not millions of dollars, over the years to several charity groups including GRACE — a horse riding stable for people with physical and mental challenges.
