Residents in Sauble Beach against the proposed sewer project there can stand down for now.
South Bruce Peninsula Mayor John Close says no decision on the project has been made and one won’t be made in the near future.
Close says with council being entirely new, they want to get all the information before making any moves.
Recently Genivar made a presentation to the Committee of the Whole on the project and Close says that’s as far as the issue has gone.
Close pointed out that no sewer project in Sauble Beach has even been approved.
Officials are simply going through the Environmental Assessment portion of a proposed project.
He says as councillors study the material at hand they will be looking at alternatives to the sewer concept.
Some residents in the Sauble Beach area have been very vocal in their opposition to any sewer project in the community, citing unaffordable costs.
They also say there’s nothing wrong with the current septic system being used now.
