Concerned parents continue to push for increased accountability from school boards.
Lesa McDougall, Co-Founder of the Bluewater Citizens for Education, is one of those parents.
McDougall has challenged the Bluewater School Board to take the lead in Ontario with regard to the accountability issue – by way of holding public inquiries.
She also believes the Provincial Ombudsmen must have the authority to oversee School Boards.
McDougall briefly touched on the lawsuit involving some area parents and the Bluewater District School Board, saying its sad that parents feel they need to go to those lengths to correct a problem.
McDougall tells Bayshore Broadcasting News it’s too often that a school administration will put an end to discussions on an issue, which effectively kills any hope of resolution.
Corina Morrison, Founder of the London Anti-Bullying Coalition, agrees.
She calls the manner in which the school boards deal with issues is a lot like a ping-pong match – adding by the time you’ve cut through all the red tape it’s often too late.
