There is a lot of turn-over happening on the Board of directors for the Southwest Local health integration network, but CEO Michael Barrett says that is good.
This year, the Southwest LHIN is looking for four new members plus a permanent Board chair.
The Board has a total of nine members and Barrett says the four positions are coming open as appointments expire.
Interviews are underway with some 17 people applying to fill the appointments.
Despite the fact half the board will have to be replaced, he says that is good because you get fresh ideas at the meetings, rather than the same old discussions repeating themselves.
Meanwhile, Linda Stevenson has been appointed as the acting Board Chair.
She has been on the LHIN board since 2007 and previously was a trustee on a school board in London.
CEO Barrett says they haven’t had a permanent Board chair since Norm Gamble left in 2009 and it is up to the province to fill that position.
So far he says, the province hasn’t given him a time line from when a permanent board chair will be named.
The South West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) is a crown agency responsible for the planning, integration and funding of nearly 200 health service providers including hospitals, long-term care homes, mental health and addictions agencies.
It covers an area from Lake Erie to the Bruce Peninsula and is home to almost one million people.
