A former Walkerton mortgage broker is going to jail for four years.
Dan MacDonald was sentenced to four years Wednesday after he admitted to defrauding investors of nearly two million dollars.
MacDonald pleaded guilty to 16 fraud related charges earlier this week before his trial was scheduled to start.
Court heard that MacDonald operated a ponzi scheme from 1991 to 2005 and even his own brother lost money.
The judge described MacDonald’s crimes as appalling, noting he took advantage of a position of trust in the community.
MacDonald was also ordered pay 1.9 million dollars in restitution to the 15 victims named in the charges.
