The Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound is receiving a sizeable grant from the Province.
The Ontario Arts Council has handed the gallery 82 thousand dollars to help with operating expenses for 2011.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch calls the grant a good boost for the area – calling the gallery a national cultural attraction.
Gallery Curator Virginia Eichhorn says the grant money is essential to continue operating at a high level.
She says the money will go toward the various programs, exhibitions, and children’s classes offered by the gallery.
Eichhorn adds it was quite a process to get the grant money as the applications is quite large.
She says once the application is submitted it is put through a review process and then a recommendation for funding is made based on organizational and artistic excellence.
