The Festive RIDE program is over for another year, and the results in Grey County are mixed.
OPP Constable Steve Starr says just under 15 thousand vehicles were checked between November 26th and January 2nd — whichis down about two thousand from last year.
But Starr says 46 warnings and three day suspensions were handed out this year, compared with only nine during the RIDE program last year.
At the same time, Grey County OPP charged eight drivers with impaired driving, which also means they had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days.
A year ago — only one person was charged.
Constable Starr says the numbers for the whole year, actually show a decline in impaired charges in Grey County.
He says they held the RIDE checks in more remote locations this year, and that may account for the increase in charges being laid.
