Saugeen Shores residents can now recycle even more household items.
Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling is now allowing more items to be thrown in the Blue Box.
The new clear rigid plastic products, otherwise known as clam shell, can now be tossed in the blue box instead of the garbage.
Councillor Fred Schildroth — who is a board member of Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling — says the new acceptable material is stamped with a number from 1 to 7.
He says each resident will get a mail-out with pictures and information, and the same information is already posted online at www.brucerecycling.com
Schildroth says their previous mail-outs were not correct, so he urges residents to visit that website or check your mail for the new guideline list.
Included are things like those plastic egg carton’s, certain plastic pails, single serve plastic cups, hard potato chip containers, and those cleaning containers like the ones used by Comet.
Schildroth says Saugeen Shores delayed in getting the plastics recycled because they wanted certain guarantees.
He says some municipalities said the material was being recycled when it really wasn’t, whereas Saugeen Shores is guaranteed the material actually ends up being used as breather cover’s for air intakes in Ford F-150 pick up trucks.
