A man who deals with the homeless in Owen Sound on a daily basis, has a warning for residents.
Pastor Randy Kennedy at Victorious Living Centre in Owen Sound says there is a push on for people to open up their homes and take in a homeless person in a spare bedroom.
Kennedy tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he is fearful the result will be an elderly person badly injured or even killed.
He says many of todays’ homeless are drug addicts and may appear perfectly fine at first.
However, Pastor Kennedy says once they go off their medication or they need a fix, all bets are off and some become violent.
He warns that the elements who are taking advantage of these rooms can sometimes be less desirable and extremely dangerous.
Pastor Kennedy says at the Victorious Living Centre in Owen Sound they have rules and can deal with violent individuals better than an elderly woman in her own home can.
He tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that he expressed his concerns about the policy of opening up spare rooms to the homeless to a city politician.
Kennedy says the local politician told him maybe someone has to die before the issue gets addressed.
