It may be time to shake things up at the Hanover and District Hospital Board.
Hospital Board member Barbara Hicks is encouraging her fellow directors to forge a partnership with the fundraising arm of the Hospital — the Foundation.
Hicks notes as Ministry health dollars become more scarce — the need for fundraising is becoming more important.
She suggests board members begin to take an active role in hospital fundraising.
Hicks says members could serve as ambassadors to the hospital building a relationship with the community.
CEO Katrina Wilson calls it an excellent idea.
She says by teaming up with the Foundation, Board members will form a more positive relationship with the public.
They will be able to update the public on upcoming projects and explain how these new purchases will benefit the community.
Because the province doesn’t fund most hospital capital equipment costs, the hospital relies on fundraising to cover new equipment purchases; making fundraising a very important tool for the hospital.
Up until now the Hospital Foundation took on the sole role as fundraiser.
