Brockton’s non union staff are getting a 1.9 per cent raise in the new year.
This will impact about 40 full time employees including municipal office staff , daycare and rec department staff.
Brockton came up with the 1.9 per cent hike based on the Consumer Price Index and Stats Canada data.
No decision has been made yet as to whether this raise will also be given to Brockton Councillors.
Council has deferred that decision until the new year.
New councillor Anne-Louise Gibbons says she was uncomfortable giving herself a raise at her very first council meeting.
She wants to first compare Brockton council salaries to that of area municipalities.
Last year Brockton councillors denied themselves a raise due to the struggling economy.
Council has decided to tackle this issue again in January.
Meanwhile unionized employees will receive a .50 cent an hour increase in 2011 as part of their three year contract.
In addition they will receive the same Cost of Living Adjustment as non unionized employees.
