Talk about a Christmas miracle.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hanover received even more money today to help in their battle to keep the lights on and the doors open.
The organization announced a 24 thousand dollar deficit in the fall and needed to raise 38 thousand dollars to stay afloat.
Executive Director Chantal La Duke was thrilled to tell Bayshore Broadcasting News that they have now received 50 thousand and counting.
La Duke says Bill Clancy of Fritz Construction Services handed them a cheque for 10 thousand dollars today.
And John Ernewein of Ernewein’s in Walkerton handed over a 25 hundred dollar donation and 22 hundred dollars came from the United Way.
La Duke says those generous donations put them over the 50 thousand dollar mark.
Without the community’s help since that announcement in October, La Duke says their doors would have been closed by the end of this January.
Currently there are over a hundred children that are served by the agency, and 14 little ones still waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
