Studying hard has paid off big time for 18 St. Mary’s and Sacred Heart High School graduates.
They are the recipients of the province’s Queen Elizabeth II “Aiming for the Top Scholarship.”
This is a provincial program that rewards students who graduate with top marks at their high school.
Scholarships are worth up to a maximum of 35 hundred dollars a year for up to four years, providing recipients maintain an 80 per cent average at College or University.
Director of Education Bruce MacPherson calls it a lucrative scholarship that should help take the sting out of post secondary education costs.
He says the School Board is very proud of the accomplishments of these 18 students.
MacPherson hopes more high school students will be inspired to do their best in the hopes of achieving this scholarship also in the future.
Of the 18 recipients, 10 are Sacred Heart High School graduates and 8 are St. Mary’s High School graduates.
