Don’t be concerned if you notice an ambulance parked outside the Zehrs in Owen Sound, it’s just the Grey Paramedic Stuff The Ambulance event.
It takes place today from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Rick Trombley, a paramedic with the Grey County EMS says the holiday food drive will gather food for low income families who’ve been affected by the recession.
Trombley says they’re trying to collect enough non-perishable food items to fill the back of an empty ambulance.
Items such as peanut butter, Kraft Dinner and pasta sauces are in high demand according to the Salvation Army.
But Trombley says they will accept other items including anything canned such as soup, tuna, tomatoes, fruits, vegetables and bottled juices are needed as well.
Trombley notes the number of donations given to the Salvation Army are down by 30 per cent this year, however demand has increased by 28 per cent.
