The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation’s Christmas Tree Ornament campaign is back.
Organizers hope to raise 25 thousand dollars this year.
The money will go towards the purchase of a 650 thousand dollar digital mammography machine.
Hospital Foundation Coordinator Sue Paterson says two, 12 foot Christmas Trees will be on display in the Hospital.
The public can purchase an ornament for one of the trees to honour the memory of a loved one, recognize a staff member or pay tribute to someone special in their life.
Each ornament will come with a tribute card and the donors name will be listed in a tribute book.
Patterson is confident the community will get behind the project.
She says Christmas is a very giving time of the year adding that the public has always been very generous when it comes to the Hanover and District Hospital.
Christmas tree ornaments range in price from 12 to 250 dollars.
Patterson says the new digital mammography machine will produce clearer images, provide shorter examination times, improve image storage and enhance communication between medical sites.
Most importantly, a digital mammography machine is a more effective way of screening for breast cancer.
