The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office says December can be one of the most dangerous times of the year for home fires, and has come out with some tips on how to prevent cooking and drinking related fires.
You’re advised to stay in the kitchen while cooking, especially if oil or high temperatures are being used.
The Fire Marshall also says you should drink responsibly, and keep an eye on those who don’t because excessive alcohol is a contributing factor in many residential fires.
Acting Fire Marshal Doug Crawford also says it’s important everyone stay in the kitchen and pay attention when cooking.
