It’s now on the books.
Both Bruce County and Grey County are the owners of the Carrick-Normanby bridge.
Bruce County engineer Brian Knox says it will be interesting now to see what happens next with the span, that is in need of some work.
Knox says the bridge was fixed up by the county back in the 30’s but then was never transferred back to the municipality which is usually the case.
As a result both county councils had to create a bylaw indicating that they are indeed the owners of the bridge.
Bruce county is in on the deal even though a tiny portion of the bridge covers less than half a foot of Bruce County land.
Knox says the options for the bridge now are whether it’s repaired or replaced or reamins as it is, becomes a decision of the two counties.
He says there is always the option of returning the bridge to the munciipality but that’s highly unlikely at this time.
The bridge is in the Carlsruhe area, spanning a feeder to the Saugeen River.
