The United Way of Bruce Grey is closer to its fundraising goal for the year.
Bruce Power presented a cheque Thursday to the United Way for over 340 thousand dollars.
About half of the money was raised through payroll deductions and the rest was raised through other events — like the annual golf tournament.
United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are thrilled with the donation.
She notes they have an amazing partnership with the nuclear operator that stretches beyond money and includes various in kind donations.
Dobbyn tells with the Bruce Power donation — they have now raised 80 per cent of their 600 thousand dollar goal this year.
That money will be handed out to organizations and agencies who will apply for money in the Spring.
Dobbyn notes the demand from families, children and seniors continues to rise.
But she also notes they are getting more support from the community as many realize there are less fortunate people who have suffered through the economic downturn.
