There’s a new council in place in South Bruce Peninsula.
It was a full plate of a new mayor and 9 new councillors that were sworn in Monday.
Newly elected mayor John Close says it’s time to bring some stability back to the government of South Bruce Peninsula.
Close says they have to move forward, creating jobs for their youth and affordable housing for seniors.
He says it’s time to be an active and healthy community again.
Close also went on record as saying the controversial Sauble Beach sewer project is not etched in stone.
He says it’s one of those tough decisions that council will have to deal with.
He says no decision has been made and he suggested that we’ll all just have to wait to see how that unfolds in the future.
Close did says budgets will be challenging this year, not only for his municipality but for all municipalities in the region.
He says the senior levels of government just won’t have the purse strings open this year and that means some creative budgeting for South Bruce Peninsula.
