Construction in the city of Owen Sound this year is just under the 71 million dollar mark.
A permit issued for the new Family Health Team building in November, helped push the total to a new record high.
The previous record for construction in Owen Sound was roughly 34 million dollars in 2006.
Last month, there was 11.5 million dollars in construction value started, compared to 3.5 million dollars during November 2009.
Year-to-date values for 2010 hit the 71 million dollar mark, compared to 19.8 million dollars during the same period last year.
Owen Sound Development Co-ordinator, Sandra Parks says two sectors are up significantly over last year.
Home renovations are valued at 2.2 million dollars to-date, compared to 1.7 million last year; and commercial projects are valued at 16 million dollars, compared to 3.3 million last year.
Major projects given permits in November this year include the construction of the new Family Health Team building, valued at 11 million dollars, and construction of a single family dwelling, valued at 148 thousand dollars.
Of course the whole year’s total is skewed by the Regional Rec centre project which was valued at nearly 34 million dollars.
