It was the start of something new in Kincardine and Arran Elderslie.
In Kincardine, all 9 elected officials were officially sworn in and all had an opportunity to give their maiden speech.
Re-elected Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer was encouraged by what he saw last night (WED).
It doesn’t usually happen at inaugurals but Kincardine councillors did deal some issues of work which included the future governance stance for the community and more will be dealt with in the weeks ahead.
Kraemer says he was impressed with the civility of the conversations, not only at the council table but with staff as well.
Meanwhile, in Chesley, newly elected Mayor Paul Eagleson presided over the induction of Deputy Mayor Mark Davis and 5 new councillors.
Eagleson says council has a full plate ahead of it.
He says development is upper most in his mind.
Eagleson alluded to the closure of the Durham Furniture manufactuing site.
He’s hoping an investor will come in soon and open the place up, creating much needed jobs.
He says the municipality is supporting three community areas to support and three fire departments to support but they have a very small assessment base.
