This year’s Light the Way Campaign for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is off to a great start.
As of this week, 31 thousand dollars has already been donated.
Campaign Chair Doctor Claire Jeffrey says every year the campaign gets better, and the community support is overwhelming.
She’s hoping to top last year’s fundraising, which brought in 90 thousand dollars.
This year’s goal is set at 100 thousand dollars.
Doctor Jeffrey says all of the money raised goes to buy new and upgraded equipment for the emergency room at the Southampton Hospital.
She says people have become very familiar with the Light the Way campaign over the years, and it’s important to remember that a lot of the equipment in the ER is because of community donations.
The campaign drive started November 1st, and will wrap up at the end of December.
