The Hanover and District Hospital is the recipient of the Ontario Hospital Associations Bronze award.
CEO Katrina Wilson says the Quality Healthcare Workplace award acknowledges the hospital’s healthy work environment.
She says in particular the hospital was commended for its Only Healthy Food Choices program in the cafeteria and its Fit Trail on hospital grounds.
Another feature that was applauded was the Interest-free education loans the hospital offers staff to encourage ongoing learning and development.
Wilson says the hospital isn’t going to rest on it laurels now.
She notes plans are already in the works to come up with new initiatives to improve the healthcare workplace.
Wilson says improving the quality of worklife for staff it will have a ripple effect toward improving the quality of care and services they deliver to patients.
This is the first time the Ontario Hospital Association has handed out these quality healthcare workplace awards.
