The holidays can be a tough time when you are coping with the loss of a loved one, or the fact that your loved one just cant remember holidays past.
The Alzheimers Society of Grey and Bruce is doing what they can to help those memories live on with the Forget me not trees.
Bill Twaddle — the Community Development Coordinator — says the lights on the trees are a reminder that Alzheimer’s disease affects so many people in our community.
Twaddle says in the last six months alone — there are more than 500 families on their support list that have sought help dealing with the disease.
The forget me not trees are Christmas trees that are lit up throughout the region and with donations to the Alzheimer Society.
But it is not just those suffering with the disease that should be commemorated but also caregivers as Twaddle says the caregivers are over worked and stressed many time.
Twaddle is quick to explain the forget me not trees are not really a large fundraiser but rather to draw awareness to the cause.
