After a series of delays — Bell Canada is hopeful they can restore full phone and internet service to those affected by a cable cut in downtown Owen Sound.
Bell Canada Communications Officer Norma Hughes Howard was on the CFOS Open Line on Wednesday morning.
Hughes Howard says crews are exhausted after having been working on the problem around the clock since Friday morning.
She says full service should be restored by midnight tonight.
Hughes Howard adds crews will check on their work tomorrow as well in the event there are any customers that are still without service.
Meantime, Owen Sound Director of Operations John Johnston says work on the Ninth Street bridge is going ahead.
Johnston says work on the bridge it self is progressing as is work on the west side of the bridge.
Since Bell Canada will likely be back in the Spring to finish up any remaining tasks related to the severed underground cable, Johnston says construction on the east side of the bridge will have to wait until that time.
He adds the road should be at least cleaned up in time for the Christmas season.
