A 49 year old woman faces charges after a vehicle slammed into a hydro pole and almost crashed into a home in Wiarton.
Bruce Peninsula OPP found the vehicle abandoned but still running after the crash early Saturday morning — and it was only a few feet away from a home on Claude Street.
Police say the vehicle started in the Tim Horton’s parking lot in Wiarton before it jumped the curb, crossed a field, snapped the pole and stopped in the yard of the residence.
The Ministry of Environment was even called to the scene because a transformer attached to the pole started leaking oil.
The road was closed for several hours on Saturday during the clean-up.
A 49 year old woman from Cape Croker was located and charged with careless driving.
