Some 30 students or so at Saugeen District Secondary School have really created a challenge for themselves.
The SDSS school rep at the Bluewater Board of Education Nicola Bruce tells us students have taken a vow of silence for close to 18 hours beginning at 10 PM Thursday.
That means, no Facebook, Twitter, texting, phone calls and talking.
Bruce says the idea is to raise awareness about those who cannot speak in the world, who don’t have a voice and do not have a position to stand up for their rights.
It also is a fundraiser for the group Free the Children, which is being done by pledges for the participants.
Bruce admits it’s going to be a challenge.
She loves to talk and all friends her age love to text and use the social networks constantly.
Bruce says other schools will be holding similar vows of silence in the days ahead.
