Mediation is set for next week to try and avert a strike by 60 counselors for the developmentally disabled in the Wiarton area.
The workers — represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union — are looking for their first contract with Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living.
OPSEU Local 235 representative Ted Loughead says the part time workers are looking for more hours, and want the managers to stop doing their jobs.
The union has set a strike date of November 26th.
Both sides will meet with a Ministry of Labour mediator on November 25th in a last ditch effort to try and avert a lockout.
Community Living operates 4 group homes and two day programms in Wiarton and provides individual and family supports.
