Coulter’s Parkette in downtown Port Elgin is about to light up.
The community relations coordinator for the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce Heather Lorenz says at 6:30 PM tonight, a giant Christmas tree will be lit, kicking off Shopper’s Night in Port Elgin.
Lorenz says everyone is welcome at the corner of Goderich and Green Streets for the ceremonies and for the singing of Christmas carols.
Following the lighting of the tree, businesses in the core will remain open until 10 at night to kick-start Christmas shopping for many.
Special guests at the ceremony will be the children of the Port Elgin Family “Y” who have been busy making decorations for the tree.
The night also kicks off the Chamber’s Christmas Passport Shop, Dine and Win promotion which thousands of dollars worth of gift certificats and Chamber dollars can be won.
98 the Beach and CFOS personality Robin Woods will be emcee of the event.
98 the Beach personalities will also be on duty at Cathy’s Flowers N’ Treasures between 7 PM and 9 PM for gift-wrapping chores.
For a small donation your gift can be wrapped and ready to go for Christmas.
The donations will be donated to the Port Elgin Business Improvement Area to help improve the downtown core.
