The testing is done and the results are in — and wifi use in our public schools is here to stay.
The Health and Safety officer for the Bluewater Board of Education Ron Motz says two schools were used for testing–Ripley Huron Community School and St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary.
Motz says a computer work station was emitting 3.2 miliwatts or just over 30/1000th of one watt.
He says the industry standard is 10 watts.
Motz says after the independent tests he is comfortable reporting to the board that there is no health or safety risk to the people in the schools.
Another presenter Michael Morgan, Manager of Communication and Technology with the board says the board has been a leader in wifi technology and must continue that trend.
The report and the board’s acceptance comes after parents at the two tested schools complained of possible health hazards with wireless internet technology.
