More family homes are being built in Saugeen Shores.
Chief Building Official Jim Bell says 30 building permits were issued in the month of October worth four million dollars.
He says 14 of those permits were for new single-family homes, worth almost 3.5 million dollars.
He says year-to-date numbers show construction value of issued permits has hit 44 million dollars, which is almost double year-to-date values from this time last year, which stood at 24 million dollars.
Bell says they’ve also issued about 30 more permits so far than they did this time last year.
A total of 90 permits have been issued so far this year for new residential builds; 67 are for multi-residential builds.
Bell says this is 30 more homes being built than in 2009.
He adds this is a good thing for Saugeen Shores, as all of the contractors he’s spoken with are booked and looking forward to a busy spring.
