The Big Music Fest is likely to return to Kelso Beach Park in Owen Sound next year.
City council approved in principle on Monday night a proposal from promoter Mark Higgins to stage the outdoor concert event again next Canada Day weekend.
If it goes ahead as planned, it will happen on Saturday, July 2nd, 2011.
The one-day event held earlier this year attracted more than 10 thousand fans to performances by Faber Drive, Finger Eleven, David Wilcox, Matthew Good, Our Lady Peace and Hedley.
An approval in principle means council supports the return of the event but an agreement for the use of the park must still be negotiated between the city and the promoter.
Monday’s decision does allow Higgins to go ahead and book acts for next year’s show while working on a contract with the city.
There’s no word yet on who will perform at next year’s event.
Higgins says he will again look for a non-profit partner to handle the parking and sales of water, a task that was managed this year by the Family Y.
