Grades 7 to 10 Catholic students in Bruce Grey have a distinct advantage when it comes to math homework.
They are now receiving free online math tutoring from a math teacher.
It’s all part of a new pilot program that the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is participating in.
Math Teacher and Tutor Mike Walter says students are responding well to the online help.
He says the technology serves as a great tool to help struggling students with their math problems.
Not only does it engage kids, but Walter says it also gives parents a break.
He says many parents can find the math homework frustrating, so having an online math teacher as a resource is quite helpful.
Walter says the online program is not only building math skills for youth but also confidence.
The program launched in September.
Under the program, students receive live one on one assistance through an interactive chat with a tutor and the use of an interactive whiteboard for the lesson.
