The 71st CFOS Sun Times Christmas Fund Broadcast is just four weeks away and already donations are being collected to help some 20 charities in Grey Bruce.
Sun Times Publisher Cheryl McMenemy says they have begun an early campaign to try and solicit donations from the so-called Snow Birds who will be heading south for the winter months and may miss the annual broadcast.
She says so far they have collected just over one thousand dollars.
The goal of this year’s campaign is 25 thousand dollars — of which eight-thousand has been designated to the Grey Bruce Health Service Paediatric unit for the purchase of four sleep chairs.
McMenemy says this will allow the parents of a sick child to remain in the unit over night with their youngster.
Bayshore Broadcasting President Ross Kentner says the admission fee for this years Christmas Fund broadcast is the same as it was when the broadcast first started 71 years ago.
It’s 25 cents and a donation of a non perishable food item for the local food bank.
This years CFOS Sun Times Christmas fund Broadcast takes place on Sunday, December 5th from Noon until 6 PM in the Roxy Theater in downtown Owen Sound.
