A 3.6 million dollar Hanover Water Plant upgrade and expansion project is now underway.
Mayor Kathi Maskell says the project promises to not only expand Hanover’s water treatment capacity — but also improve the taste and odour of the drinking water.
This will be done through new technology such as a Taste and Odour UV system and the integration of a SCADA filtration system.
The cost of the 3.6 million dollar project is being split three ways between Hanover, the province and the federal governments.
The entire project is expected to wrap up by the end of March.
Maskell believes residents will be pleased with the final results.
She says many dislike the taste of Hanover’s water and the odour that sometimes occurs.
Maskell says this will all become a distant memory once the new filtration system is up and running.
