Two prominent Grey Bruce Environmentalists are sharing this year’s Bayshore Broadcasting’s Malcolm Kirk award for the Environment.
It was handed out during a special ceremony in Hanover on Thursday night.
Walkerton clean water advocate Bruce Davidson and Owen Sound naturalists Merle Gundy are both sharing this years award for their dedicated work surrounding environmental issues and educating young people.
Gundy received the award for his life long commitment to environmental issues, including the planting of native trees at the Inglis Falls Arboretum and working with school children on Arbor day.
Davidson was honoured for his involvement with the Brockton Environmental Advisory committee, his work educating people about the importance of clean water and his efforts at increasing the recycling of e-waste and styrofoam in his community.
He says its nice to be recognized, but the success of these recycling and environmental initiatives would not be possible without the support of the community.
Gundy says he is pleased and honoured to received the award and just to be associated with Malcolm Kirk is a very humbling honour.
This is the second year the award has been handed out.
