The 88th edition of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is about to kick off this Friday at the Toronto Exhibition Grounds.
This years event once again will feature livestock barns, horse shows and giant vegetable competitions, as well as new shows and exhibits.
Scott McConnell is with the Royal and says in addition there will be a horse hockey game, celebrity chef competition concerns and a Family fun stage.
He says for people living in the city, this is an excellent opportunity to experience the magic of the country and find out what really does happen down on the farm.
McConnell says the Royal’s Horse show is one of the top indoor equestrian event in North America, and attracts the best horses and riders from all over the world.
He says fairgoers will be able to walk through the cattle stalls and learn all about how the animals are raised and how the cattle competition is run.
McConnell says the Agri Food innovation are will help educate people about the importance of the agri food sector and how it impacts the lives of Canadians through healthy living, renewable energy, environmental stewardship and agricultural based bio products.
He says during the 10 days of the Royal, more than 300 thousand people will visit the fair.
